Türkiye: Local disaster risk reduction plans for 81 provinces
The Local Disaster Risk Reduction Plan (IRAP) is a plan that reveals the catastrophic nature of the province and the possible effects of disasters and shows the actions to be taken without disasters in order to minimize these effects in the form of actions. It is aimed to lead a safe life in cities, to reduce and prevent loss of life and property due to disasters, to create awareness of disaster risk reduction, to ensure effective use of resources, to increase cooperation between stakeholders, to reduce expenditures for response during disaster and recovery after disaster. For this purpose, the Ministry of Interior of Türkiye completed the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Plans end of 2021 for all 81cities. You can access the Plans through the link below.
İRAP is a plan that includes goals, objectives and actions reduce risk in our cities. Responsible stakeholders are identified in the plan for each actions to reduce disaster risks. İRAP addresses the need to manage underlying disaster risk drivers and strengthening good governance in disaster risk management, with a focus on local governments including authorities and managers at the city or other sub-national levels. It provides an important boost to efforts to meet a key target in the Sendai Framework, Target (E) which seeks to increase the number of countries with national and local strategies for DRR and also directly related with other SFDRR targets.
