UNESCO’s activities in the field of migration in 2010-2011
This document focuses of UNESCO's activities regarding the human face of migration. It addresses the implications of the movement of people in its fields of competence, including the impact of global environmental change on migration and on the links between climate change and migration. It announces the development of toolkits addressing the relevance and efficiency of resettlement and migration as a disaster risk reduction measure, as well as its articulation with broader disaster risk reduction plans, with case studies documenting recent practices and lessons learned on this topic in Africa and Asia/Pacific in order to systematize these experiences and develop a methodology to manage resettlement as an option to reduce the risk of disaster due to climate change.
