United Kingdom national adaptation programme: Making the country resilient to a changing climate
This report outlines the steps government, businesses and communities are already taking to address the most severe and urgent threats of climate change, as identified by Defra last year in its Climate Change Risk Assessment. It identifies the major threats to the UK which require targeted adaptation responses across six sectors: (i) built environment, which addresses flood and coastal erosion; (ii) infrastructure; (iii) healthy and resilient communities; (iv) agriculture and forestry; (v) natural environment; and (vi) business. It also considers raising awareness, building capacity and making the case for local government action and proposes a framework for action.
