United Kingdom: Trinity House - planning for climate change progress report
This progress report focuses on how the understanding of climate change implications of the Trinity House, the General Lighthouse Authority (GLA) for England, Wales, Channel Islands and Gibraltar, has developed and what actions have been implemented to address those risks. This report sets out the organisation's progress in adapting to the current and future predicted effects of climate change.
The document identifies the following new actions planned for addressing climate change risk (p. 9):
- review and update the Trinity House Adaptation to Climate Change Plan;
- establish environmental effects of wave loading on lighthouses;
- conduct an Environmental Working Group road show around the service;
- modernise Longstone Lighthouse to include use of solar power;
- investigate if change needed to the solar model.
