USA: National mitigation investment strategy
The National Mitigation Investment Strategy is a single national strategy for advancing mitigation investment to reduce hazard risks, and for increasing the United States’ resilience to natural hazards. The strategy’s objective is to identify and measure the effectiveness of mitigation investments, and inform decisions on when and where to make investments.
The Investment Strategy encourages the whole community—including individuals—to invest in mitigation, pre- and post-disaster, by adopting the strategy’s three shared goals: (i) show how mitigation investments reduce risk, (ii) coordinate mitigation investments to reduce risk, and (iii) make mitigation investment standard practice. Supporting recommendations focus specifically on how the Federal Government and nonfederal partners can identify, support, influence, and align whole community mitigation investments.
