Use of earth observation satellites to improve effectiveness of humanitarian operations
This report provides detailed information on the use of satellite-based earth observation methods in various humanitarian settings. It presents a critical review on the current use of earth observation data in the humanitarian sector based on the current scientific and grey literature.
Section four of the report summarises the most common applications of satellite images and products derived from them, as used by humanitarian actors, for different disaster types, including earthquakes and volcanic eruptions, floods and storms, droughts and famines, landslides, wildfires and epidemics.
