A user's guide: community based disaster management and climate change adaptation
This guidebook was designed to encourage community based disaster management (CBDM) for effective climate change adaptation (CCA) by preparing tools to strengthen understanding and organization across various levels of society.
The guidebook is divided into seven sections: (i) section one introduces the concepts of CBDM and CCA in the context of the three countries selected for the case study (Bangladesh, India, and the Philippines); (ii) section two presents seven generic guidelines based on lessons learned from previous UNCRD research; (iii) section three presents five tools for policymakers to create a CBDM policy agenda; (iv) section four presents six tools for national disaster managers; (v) section five presents six tools and indicators of good practice for local disaster managers; (vi) section six presents tools for CBDM and CCA trainers, including steps in the training cycles; (vii) and section seven presents eleven tools for community workers with experience in disaster events.
