Vietnam disaster management reference handbook 2021
This Vietnam Disaster Management Reference Handbook offers an operational understanding of both the country’s disaster management capability and information on demographics, hazards, infrastructure, laws and guidelines, risks and vulnerabilities, and other areas vital to a comprehensive disaster management knowledge base. It is hoped that individuals and organizations planning for or executing a disaster response operation in Vietnam will benefit from this information to support the country’s responders and affected communities in their times of need.
This handbook finds that Vietnam’s multi-agency approach, led by the Vietnam Disaster Management Authority, is well coordinated with international partners and local and international organizations. Vietnam’s National Strategy for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control to 2030, with vision to 2050, sets as a common goal for 2030, the promotion of proactive action to prevent and combat natural disaster, adaptation to climate change, and efforts to minimize the loss of life and property of the State and people, safeguarding security and national defense, and building a safe society against natural disasters.
