What you don't know can't help you: Public awareness about social and green infrastructure
This study employs a cross-sectional survey design to investigate factors influencing knowledge of social and green infrastructure among individuals in the United States. The authors hypothesize that knowledge of social infrastructure and green infrastructure is higher among expert groups, and also that social capital, disaster experience, education, and demographics positively impact this knowledge.
The findings suggest that education a key factor for knowledge of social and green infrastructure. This insight can help policymakers at the national, state, and municipal levels design targeted educational initiatives and outreach programs to close the knowledge gap and enhance disaster preparedness. This multi-level approach is essential for building consensus among stakeholders for effective policymaking.
