These proceedings provide an overview of the three sessions of the workshop, presenting development and application mechanisms of building codes in Japan, Peru and other countries, as well as possibilities to widen their application in view of earthquake disaster of 15 August 2007 in Pisco, Peru. It also discusses disaster management by local governments in Japan and Sustainable Cities Program in Peru.

Additional information on August 15th earthquake is provided in an annex. It includes maps, statistics and photos.
