World Bank, climate finance and Bangladesh: a briefing note
This briefing note is an attempt to unravel the complexity of climate financing, looking at the issue in the context of the geo-politics of the rich countries and donors, and asks some fundamental questions, stating that the developed nations are responsible for climate change disasters such as drought, floods, storms, sea-level rise and threats to agriculture. Rather than looking at the climate financing in a silo, it looks at the larger politics of financing, the game of 'guesstimations', the role of World Bank, the governance and transparency issues and then focusing more on what is happening in the context of Bangladesh.
