This paper reports on the success of a joint project between Oxfam and Salvadoran partner PROCOMES (Asociación de Proyectos Comunales de El Salvador), undertaken to educate communities on what to do in case of disaster.

Highlighting that these months of community education and preparation eventually saved lives when floods struck El Salvador, the paper also calls for exposing the link between poverty and disasters and encourages to watch a two-minute video on the subject.
