Zambia: Highlights of the disaster management act

This brochure presents a summary of the Zambian disaster management act no 13, which was assented to on the 13th April 2010. The act has eight chapters and administrative provisions, including: (i) the preliminary; (ii) the National Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit; (iii) the Provincial Disaster Management Committees; (iv) the District and Satellite Disaster Management Committees; (v) The National Disaster Relief Trust Fund; (vi) the Declaration of National Disaster; (vii) the Disaster Management Plans; and (viii) the General Provisions. It also presents some issues that the act seeks to resolve and benefits.
