Implementation of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014)
Executive Board, 184th - Strategy for the second half of the Decade and mid-Term progress report:
This document presents the UNESCO strategy for the second half of the United Nations Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (DESD, 2005-2014). It reaffirms UNESCO's participation in the climate change and disaster risk reduction agendas by continuing and further extending dialogue with governments and other key stakeholders in order to promote national Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) coordination efforts, by enhancing the linkages between ESD and Education for All (EFA) actions. This strategic action is part of the 'Enhancing synergies with different education and development initiatives' area of action, and requires the building of partnerships at all levels – local, national, regional and global and demonstrates ESD's relevance to the wider development agenda, particularly the the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs).
