Analysis of legislation related to disaster risk reduction in Nepal
This report gives an understanding and analysis of the recently passed Nepalese policies on disaster risk reduction and legislation. The report contains five chapters, chapter two reveals an overview of the disaster risk profile in Nepal (including earthquakes, floods, landslides, fire and other hazards). Chapter three emphasises the legislation framework for disaster risk reduction, which provides an understanding of the national disaster management and risk reduction laws and policies.
This report concludes with recommendations for the implementation of the measures, over a period of political transition, and a move towards a new system of implementation with full community participation, empowering communities and creating a sustainable approach for disaster risk reduction.
