Drought early warning and risk reduction: A case study of the Caribbean drought of 2009-2010
This poster describes the setting for the Caribbean drought of 2009-10 and its impacts. It provides lessons learned that include a need for improvements in rainfall forecasting and monitoring and a coodinated effort between multiple stakeholder to develop an effective early warning system. It concludes with recommended policy interventions highlighting the need to adopt and implement the principles of water resource management and develop action plans for drought management.
