Safety approach to nuclear operations

This paper summarises the nuclear safety infrastructure of the Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) nuclear facilities. It presents the safety requirements, standards, and performance expectations in relation to the risks involved in order to withstand severe natural disasters, including earthquakes, extreme winds (e.g. tornados, hurricanes), volcanic eruptions, and floods.
