Turning practice into policy: linking good practice CBDRM with government policy and practice
This publication is the result of an extensive piece of research undertaken by Tearfund among communities and government in Asia and Africa on community-based disaster risk management (CBDRM). It was done in two phases: the first phase identified good practice in CBDRM and the second phase focussed on identifying challenges in linking CBDRM with government policy and practice, and methods to overcome them.
The research identified that there were principles of practice, if met, would then lead to good practice in different contexts. It also identified the barriers facing government and civil society organizations in linking good practice with policy. Includes conclusions and recommendations to NGOs, governments and institutional donors.
