Enhancing community awareness towards potential earthquake of Lembang fault in comparison to Kathmandu Valley
Working Paper Series No. 3, March 2015
This document compares Bandung Basin in Indonesia with the Kathmandu Valley, an area of similar physical characteristics that has been exposed to the same type of seismic hazards. This comparison aims to provide an image to government and community about potential disaster risks.
Bandung Basin currently is vulnerable to seismic hazards, in particular the Lembang Fault potential earthquake. The vulnerability state has risen due to the rapid development and lack of community awareness. Community in Lembang tends to deny the existence of potential disaster that lies in their urban neighborhood.
