Safety guidelines and good industry practices for oil terminals
Economic Commission for Europe (ECE) member countries have developed safety guidelines and good practices for oil terminals within the framework of the project on hazard and crisis management in the Danube Delta, under the auspices of the Assistance Programme of the Convention on the transboundary effects of industrial accidents. This publication recognises that oil terminals store large amounts of hazardous substances and so can pose a serious threat to people and the environment, especially in the case of improper design, construction, management, operation or maintenance.
The publication offers recommendations to the following actors (p. 7-9):
- ECE member countries;
- competent authorities;
- oil terminal operators.
