Impacts of fires on water quality

This policy brief provides an overview of the current understanding of the impact of fires on water resources, knowledge gaps in the assessment and management of post-fire contamination risks in different environmental contexts, and the needed support for water managers to effectively quantify contamination risks and identify effective solutions.

This policy brief is directed to forest, catchment and water resource managers; researchers working on fire and water resources; and funders and managers of research programs in water resources and disaster prevention and mitigation.
