Australian emergency management arrangements
Australian Disaster Resilience Handbook Collection: Handbook 9
This handbook provides the Australian public with a high-level overview of how Australia addresses the risks and impacts of hazards through a collaborative approach to the prevention of, preparedness for, response to and recovery from emergencies.
The Arrangements outline the principles, structures and procedures that support national coordination of emergency management in Australia and its offshore territories. These principles, structures and procedures also support Australians affected by emergencies overseas and allow to assist foreign governments affected by emergencies. The Arrangements outline the collaboration necessary to address the nature and scale of different emergencies. Smaller states or territories may need assistance at a lower threshold of impact than a larger state or territory.
