This report presents basic criteria that could be used for the estimation of wildfire risk at the pan-European level. The report has been elaborated in consultation with the national experts in the Expert Group on Forest Fires. The report represents a first attempt on establishing critical variable that may help in characterizing areas in the pan-European region on the basis of the susceptibility to suffer damages caused by wildfires.
