The purpose of Including Children with Disabilities in Humanitarian Action is to make sure that children and women with disabilities, and their families, are included in humanitarian action.
These booklets provide insight into the situation of children with disabilities in humanitarian contexts, and how they are excluded from humanitarian action. They offer practical actions and tips to better include children and adolescents with disabilities in all stages of humanitarian action.
The actions and practical tips are relevant across a range of humanitarian contexts, including:
- Disasters that strike suddenly, like floods, earthquakes, typhoons or tsunamis
- Disasters that unfold slowly, like drought or famine
- Health emergencies, like the Ebola epidemic
- Forced displacement – whether people flee across borders, as refugees, or remain within their countries, as internally displaced persons
- Armed conflicts, including protracted crises.
