Green jobs: improving the climate for gender equality too!
Background brochure prepared as part of the ILO public awareness raising campaign on “Gender equality at the heart of decent work”:
This brochure provides an overview of the the Green Jobs Initiative launched by the ILO jointly with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) and the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) in 2007. The initiative supports a concerted effort by governments, employers and trade unions to promote just transitions to environmentally sustainable jobs and development in a climate-challenged world. It includes information on climate change and gender, and climate change adaptation and asserts that adapting to and mitigating climate change will
entail a transition to new patterns of production, consumption and employment.
