IVHHN was launched in February 2003 through a Leverhulme Trust Research Interchange Grant. IVHHN currently involves 31 expert members from 25 international institutions and over 130 corresponding members. Members of IVHHN work in diverse scientific disciplines such as volcanology, epidemiology, toxicology, public health and physical chemistry with a common aim of trying to determine the health effects of volcanic emissions.
IVHHN is co-ordinated by Dr Claire Horwell (NERC Post-doctoral Fellow) at the Institute of Hazard & Risk Research, Durham University, UK.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
