Disaster Preparedness official Brian Dyer told WINN FM that the objectives of the exercise were met.
He said, “We tested the communication lines between the tsunami warning focal point and the Disaster Management and also the communication between Disaster Management and the stakeholders, the notification of the stakeholders with regard to the evacuation process and also we looked at the time taken from when the evacuees received the information and when they arrived at the station. What we recognized is that more persons were involved this year than last year so more persons are aware of the emergency procedures with regard to tsunami evacuation and more people are more of what a tsunami is and the possible impact. And they are more aware of where the stations are and the evacuation areas.”
