Fiji: Ministry to strengthen school safety during disasters

While opening a two-day National Workshop for Priority Setting for School Safety in Suva today, Ministry of Education acting permanent secretary, Kelera Taloga said they are now supporting a strategic approach to assessment, planning and implementation of Comprehensive School Safety and Policy Framework, reports the Jet.

“The ministry has put in a lot of effort to ensure that students and all workers of the Ministry of Education are protected in schools; that teaching and learning can still continue in the face of disaster. Education sector investments must be safeguarded from the impacts of reoccurring hazards,” Mrs Taloga said.
