CM releases Visakhapatnam declaration on disaster management

The Visakhapatnam declaration is an action agenda drawn from international framework for disaster risk reduction and enabling the implementation at local levels, said a release from the convenor of the Second World on Disaster Management.

The priorities of the Visakhapatnam declaration to set up a State Disaster Management Authority and District Disaster Management Authorities. The declaration also aims to involve civil society organisations as partners in planning and implementation of these plans as a shared responsibility and to build local capacities and enable local risk assessments and mapping vulnerabilities, at the level of gram sabha, panchayat and mandal levels leading upto the district level planning.
