US: San Francisco gathering commemorates 1906 quake
City officials commemorated the great 1906 earthquake but also emphasized the importance of preparedness for any future disaster, reports SFGate.
According to the article, Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White said that she wanted to “spread the message of how important preparedness is. The more we can spread that preparedness message, the quicker we will be able to respond to the emergencies and then get into the recovery phase.” San Francisco Mayor, Ed Lee said "Let’s commemorate, let’s remember and let’s be prepared all the time."
