'Bangladesh should stand by vulnerable island countries at COP 19' - Experts

Experts say the Bangladesh will have to stand by the island countries most vulnerable to climate change at the 19th session of conference of the parties under UNFCCC, reports The Financial Express.

"Bangladesh, as the most affected and vulnerable country to climate change, should take the leadership of the other risky countries to climate change issue," said climate change specialist and lone Bangladeshi IPCC delegate Dr Ahsan Uddin Ahmed.

"At the COP-19, Bangladesh should perform roles in all areas of negotiation particularly in the field of adaptation and finance," he said.

He also said: "Bangladesh is already working with six different committees under UNFCCC. We should maintain our presence with quality and diligence", according to the report.
