GCDRR is a non-profit legal organization which goals are:
- To carry-out activities concerning of disaster risks reduction, restoration of hazards damages caused, environment sustainable development supportive works & other ones connected (disasters forecasting & preventive measures design);
- To carry-out scientific-research, education, publicism, publication & charity activities, design of contract & grant-projects in mentioned sphere;
- Co-ordination & management of disaster risks reduction works, establishment of relationships with World similar organizations, participation in international projects implementation;
- Establishment of International collaboration in sphere of Earth & World ocean observation, control & monitoring systems development;
- The study & protection of biocenose both in Georgia as well as in whole Caucasus region;
- The integration of national observation systems in the Earth Global(GEOSS) one, and in programs of Environment & Security Global Monitoring -(GMES) & Earth Observation (GEO) etc;
- Design and development of information & communication technologies with the reason of population timely warning and protection from the disastrous phenomenon;
- The inclusion of universities and respective institutes in the environment protection, various disasters, water resources, earth and sea problems research activity;
- The study of non-conventional energy sources, implementation of energy production methods and corresponded technologies in Georgia;
- Establishment of enterprises (LTD), affiliates, agencies, publishing houses both in Georgia as well as abroad;
- Organization of meetings, conferences, congresses, exhibition-fairs etc.;
- Foundation of education-research centers, financing of school children & students study abroad, establishment and distribution of target grants & scholarships;
- Protection of cultural heritage;
- Protection of scientists, professors, teachers, students & pupil rights;
- Participation in the state programs concerning of conflict resolution, poverty and hunger reduction in Georgia;
- Implementation of both local as well as foreign projects examination (expertise);
- Implementation of legislative works in sphere of environment protection;
- To carry- out any other activity not prohibited by Georgian legislation operated.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
