Post-Sandy, urgent preparation is needed for storms of the future

"The devastation wrought by superstorm Sandy is prompting renewed thinking about climate change and national security," writes Lord Hunt of Delft University and former director-general of the UK Meteorological Office and Johnny Chan chair of the World Meteorological Organization’s Tropical Cyclone Panel on the pages of The Star. Of the issues at the ongoing United Nations climate change conference in Doha is that governments and insurers have to prepare for more and more extreme weather events, flooding and sea level rise.
