Unless preventive measures are put in place, Lagos will experience more flooding, according to Prof Iyiola Oni, the Head of Geography Department, University of Lagos. Speaking at a workshop on mainstreaming climate change in the university’s curricula, he suggested that river channels should be drained and people living near the banks should be informed about the flood risks, reports Leadership.
Speaking at the same workshop, Prof Babatunde Alo, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos called for a nationwide awareness raising campaign on adaptation to climate change in Nigeria.
