The Pacific Islands Forum Secretariat supports Forum Members to work together through deeper forms of regionalism in support of sustainable development, economic growth, good governance and security. The Secretariat co-ordinates action by states and other stakeholders to achieve these objectives. Its focus is innovative, game changing initiatives for regional action. It promotes an inclusive regional public policy approach to arrive at proposals for Leaders’ to consider and endorse.
The Secretariat's role is primarily policy advice, coordination and ensuring the effective implementation of Forum Leaders’ decisions leading to tangible improvements in the lives of the people of the Pacific.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
