AusAID’s disaster risk reduction, environment and climate change e-learning tool
Australia’s development partners can now access AusAID’s disaster risk reduction, environment and climate change (DEC) e-learning tool to learn how we integrate DEC issues into our development programs.
The e-learning tool can assist partner governments, non-government organisations, the private sector, educational institutions and multilateral and donor organisations to understand AusAID’s approach to these important cross-cutting development issues.
Divided into four modules on environment, climate change, disaster risk reduction and AusAID’s legal obligations, the tool enables self-paced learning through a range of interactive content, videos and quizzes. By working through the modules users can:
Explore how the environment underpins people’s livelihoods in developing countries and contributes to sustainable development examine the basics of climate change science and predicted impacts learn about the role of disaster risk reduction in dealing with the impacts of climate change get an overview of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act (1999) as applied to Australia’s development projects work through activities to develop an understanding of how DEC integration works in AusAID programs.
The e-learning tool is also available in an accessible format for use by persons with a disability.
