The Netherland's Mekong Delta Plan suggests two climate change adaptation scenarios, based on food security (focusing on rice or seafood production) or value added agro-business, reports VietnamNet. "In each scenario, the Mekong Delta will play a different role in the national economy, and have different schemes for climate change adaptation as well as land and water use," said Dick Kevelam, chief expert of the Netherlands’ Mekong Delta Plan (MDP), while experts predict more damages from drought, flooding, salinity intrusion and rising sea levels caused by climate change in the region in the near future.
