Sri Lanka's Meteorology Department will will strengthen the country's coastal early warning system to improve disaster preparedness and resilience with the financial help from the Regional Integrated Multi-hazard Early Warning System, reports the Daily News. Mahinda Amaraweera disaster management minister stated that "the frequency of disasters in the world has increased with more natural disasters expected in the future. Sri Lanka being an island nation should pay prime concern for disaster resilience and resistance".
