The Nation reports that according to environmentalists, farmers and policy makers should take into account climate change and its impact on the agriculture sector. They warned that temperature increase and diminishing rainfalls will result in drought like conditions, while other areas will experience heavy rains and melting glaciers which will result in flood induced crop loss. Environmentalists called for alternative crop cultivation, drought resistant seed development and investments in early warning systems. Dr Ali Hamza warned: “Time is running short and we must evolve a realistic approach to address the threat.”
