As the United States is currently involved in Durban to discuss several topics, including international cooperation on mitigation and adaptation to climate change, the Center for American Progress (CAP) asserts that if the country invests in international climate finance, it would enhance its national security, create jobs, and secure relationships with some of its allies. It also states that climate finance is high-impact investment as the World Bank and U.S. Geological Survey estimate that investing $1 in disaster risk reduction saves $7.
