'It is time to work together to reduce risk at the local level to control our future changes in the way we operate within our world,' writes Dr. Komal Raj Aryal in The Korea Times, while climate change related disasters are on the increase and repeated climatic disasters push already affected communities to vicious poverty cycles.
Mr Aryal calls for a thorough local socio-political risk analysis in the context of disaster risk reduction in Asia and the Pacific. He also warns that it is of global and local importance that the region get a handle on the situation while there is still an opportunity.
