The Easter holidays will be used to embark on a campaign to raise awareness about disaster management issues in Limpopo, a province that is regularly afflicted by extreme weather conditions such as floods, drought and veld fires, reports Sydney Masinga for News24. “We want to communicate the prevention and mitigation actions which will reduce the probability and severity of disastrous events,” said Tseng Diale, spokesperson for the department of co-operative governance, human settlements and traditional affairs. Stating that disaster management is everybody’s business, she called on the public to report incidents to their district offices or provincial disaster management centre.
