Bangladesh: ‘Effective precautionary message can minimise disaster loss’
“It is possible to minimise casualties and loss of property during natural disasters by disseminating effective precautionary message before any calamity,” said Food and Disaster Management minister, Dr Abdur Razzaue at the inaugural session of a workshop yesterday.
“Casualties and loss decreased in the last few natural disasters including cyclone. Bangladesh has been working to bring the loss to tolerable level,” he added urging the United Nations Platform for Space Based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER) to provide technical support to Bangladesh in disseminating 'precautionary messages' before natural calamites.
