Le CNES développe un nouvel outil qui pourrait aider à suivre le déplacement des nuages de cendres volcaniques et permettrait d'éviter de bloquer, par principe de précaution, toute la navigation aérienne. L’efficacité de l'instrument de mesures, baptisé LOAC pour Light Optical Aerosol Counter, est testé en Islande, près de Reykjavik avec le concours de l’office météorologique Islandais (IMO).
