"We plan to count earthquake prone houses next fiscal" said Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya, spokesperson at Ministry of Local Development (MoLD), adding that water-induced hazards will be among the hazards being dealt with at the local level.

According to the Himalayan Times the Local Governance and Community Development Programme under MoLD is hiring a structural building expert to work on the issue at the central level. The ministry is reflecting on the potential establishment of a disaster risk reduction section. To date there there is no separate section for disaster management at the ministry apart from the environment management section.
