The International News highlights a seminar held in Islamabad last week on the UNFCCC Adaptation Fund. Organised by The Climate Change Study Center (CCSC) at Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) the speakers addressed key issues about the recently established fund.

“Any one federal, provincial, non-governmental or regional organisation (such as the SAARC) is eligible to become Pakistan’s NIE on Adaptation Fund programmes, as long as it is working in the field of adaptation and has the capacity to conceive, implement and monitor its projects and programme,” said Chairman of the UNFCCC Adaptation Fund, Farrukh Iqbal Khan.

“The funding is now available on adaptation projects and the Adaptation Fund is ready to provide a direct access to Pakistan, as long as the resources are accessed through a National Implementation Entity (NIE),” said Dr Aurangzeb, Chief of the Environmental Programme at Planning Commission.
