WHO South-East Asia: Help make our hospitals safe from disasters

The WHO Emergency Preparedness and Response South-East Asian Region (EHA SEAR) campaign to keep hospitals safe from disasters continues and calls for your support on the occasion of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction to join the social media campaign and more importantly, ask your friends and colleagues to join.

The WHO call to get involved:

As we all know too well, the South East Asia Region regularly faces the worst kinds of natural disasters. We’ve seen the devastation they cause, and we work together to improve preparedness and response.

As part of efforts here at WHO South East Asia Region, on October 13th - International Disaster Risk Reduction Day - WHO SEARO is launching a social media driven push for its ongoing campaign for safe hospitals in disasters. WHO aims to engage 1 million people, and to build regional awareness and support for this issue. This will help move decision-makers (who committed to safe hospitals last year) in to taking concrete action and preventing future, needless loss of life.

WHO needs your help as well! Efforts are spearheaded by a Facebook reaction test application and a simple message: disasters destroy in seconds - WHO needs you to react fast. The app invites you to test how quickly you respond as well as to challenge friends to react and beat your time. Each safe hospital reaction counts towards building the wave of public support needed to move critical advocacy efforts forward.

Please help! There are three simple things you can do to support safe hospitals:

1. React for safe hospitals, publish your time and challenge friends on Facebook:
