Is the Netherlands waterproof?

Approximately 10,000 rescue workers and civil servants are participating this week in a five day flood simulation exercise throughout the Netherlands in preparation for a potential hazard scenario.

The aim of the ‘Waterproef' (water-test or trial by water) disaster drill is to evaluate how various administrations and government agencies are able to react faced with a major flood hazard.
