The Ahora highlights the Cuban efforts and investments in risk reduction as a new hurricane season approaches the island. 'The best defence is prevention' says the news agency.

Recent meetings and drills, such as the Meteoro 2009 drills, have been held throughout the country. A Cuban delegation will participate in the Global Platform in Geneva, Switzerland next month.
