Nigeria: Pupils to debate climate change

A variety of debates and competitions will be held in primary schools throughout Nigeria to raise awareness on the global threat of climate change, said the Minister of Environment Mr. John Odey.

“Climate Change could expose most part of the country to desertification thereby worsening the incidence of desert encroachment and food productions system. The resulting decline in land productivity could also lead to high level problems of ecological refugees as people would need to move to where the land is more productive."
